• Prepare, prepare, prepare… there is a saying, he who fails to prepare prepares to fail. Do your groundwork and get everything ready – directions, job specification and names of those you’re meeting
  • Make the right first impression – look presentable and, if in doubt, it’s better to be too smart than too scruffy

  • Honesty is the best policy – don’t over embellish and try and turn any negative into a positive
  • Have a ‘proactive close’ – as you leave, ask what the recruitment process is and when you’ll hear the outcome of your interview
